~Aydra J~

Who is Aydra Jenson?

Born and raised in the heart of Sonoma county, Aydra Jenson cultivated her gifts as an artist from a young age in a neutering, humble country home. First in a family of 4, she was known to organize and showcase various musicals, plays and even VHS skits with siblings and neighbors. A natural on stage, she navigated lead roles from kindergarten up through high school and danced at the local studio studying jazz and tap for nearly 6 years.

It was always a race to be seen. She craved the camera, and put together many of her own photo shoots as young as 13. Receiving her first guitar also this year, she played in two bands throughout school, wrote countless songs and was constantly scrap-booking in class. She always told her classmates she would ‘sing and dance’ though she was recognized mostly for her creative writing skills throughout both elementary, middle and high-school.

Aydra followed many dance communities in her early teens in San Francisco and continued to build her image as an artist and write music on her casio keyboard. After landing a Microsoft modeling gig in 2001 she was able to travel Europe and return with a definitive proclamation to oneday become a touring and recording artist with emphasis on a stage show. In her early 20’s however, Aydra became aware that creating her own survival and working towards her dreams had surfaced some physical trauma. To find ease in her efforts and come into her strength she was going to have to work harder. She enrolled in dance classes, found a vocal coach and began seeing some healers. During this time she also grew a business out of a love for raw and living foods and party hosting. Since, she built a flourishing practice as a creative chef and moved herself from the bay to LA to chase her wild dream.

By this time she had conceived of the entire vision for a production. With influences ranging from Tool, Tori Amos to AFI and Evanescence, she continued to write and imagine her music also embodying her immense love for trance music and the dance scene. She continued sharpening her skills, including fire throwing both with staff and poi as well as aerial arts and a deep yoga practice. Working with celebrity cliental in gourmet foods helped her to climb closer to the world she craved as a child, and finally in 2007, she meet her first angel who opened his home and studio to her to record her music in.

With nothing to tie her in firmly to the system, she was able immerse herself entirely in the production process and record over 30 songs. Now in 2009, she is working with engineers to polish her 3 -song demo which she will shop to both major and independent labels in the Spring. Her goal is world wide exposure and touring, with emphasis on a green, sustainable production, innovative merchandising and record/multimedia sales, a message about the future and a stage presence that hints at Madonna crossed with A Perfect Circle. StarSix is not merely a imaginative dream any longer, she believes it has truly sprouted into being and its now only a matter of time and care before it grows beyond her wildest dreams.

:StarSix Q & A:

Q&A
............
With Aydra Jenson, writer/visionary of Starsix...speaking in 2'nd person.

Q: What exactly is StarSix; a band, a circus, a pop act...define it

A: The premise to StarSix is unique. To begin, its all of the above, not only is StarSix a group or band but its an entire production, an interactive live show. Aydra Jenson, the producer- is also a pop artist, because she sings, dances and spreads a message that appeals to most audiences.

Q: So its pop music...

A: Its pop-rock with a dark, trancy and melodic flare

Q: And the sound appeals to most audiences?

A: StarSix's sound is very universal, it can be placed by the terms; epic, melodic, dramatic, accelerating. Its a journeys you to a trance-like state that allows the listener to check out of this world and into the next...a world of the future. Kids in-particular
will enjoy this because they are willing to accept such a place exists. However, this could pertain to any age group, especially parents who have children and have opened themselves up o being childlike again and even new agers, seekers and christians. In Europe and parts of Japan and China this kind of sound or "feeling" in music is highly accepted.

Q: So in general the sound is happy and uplifting?

A: Some pieces, but since the writing reflects not only Aydras breakthroughs but her struggles as well, there are many songs that speak to dark and mysterious parts of existence.

Q: How is all this represented on stage?

A: Its an entire sensory package. It entails a stage set-up similar to P!nk or Madonna as there may be a few levels for musicians and performers. There are typically 2 to 4 dancers, also back-up singers dressed futuristic-hip with a primal or indigenous flare. They are generally younger and cute, with that animated character look. Many of them are skilled in aerial and fire arts, however there is no fire used on stage, only high-powered LED lights that are attached to poi, staffs or hoops for lighting affects...these are also safe and cost/energy efficient.

Q: So there will be some aerial rigs hung at each show?

A: Yes, similar to something Paula Abdul did at her shows having two rigs on either side of the stage that can host multiple harnesses, say a trapeze and/or a sling, straps, ropes...ya know anything you can swing from.

Q: And will Aydra perform with these tools as well?

A: She will, they are both immense passions for her and have been since childhood, she will do much of her own choreography, or simply improv, these performances will be saved for dramatic entrances and exits as well as during some instrumental points of the show.

Q: So starsix has live musicians as well as technical djs, vjs and engineers?

A: Yes, similar to Bjork as well as many modern day alternative rock bands like Linkin park and Incubus. Aydras band will however, evolve from studio professionals...boys in their late 20's, as well as a DJ who can mix in musical layers either Aydra or other producers engineer. StarSix will also incoorperate drummers, stringed instruments and keys on stage. The Vj work will involve some artistic concepts Aydra has illustrated involving warrior-fantasy like characters doing tricks and mandala shapes being built and taken apart engineered to virtually job out at you from the screen.

Q: Would you place StarSix's music more in the category of Bjork or Tori?

A: It would fall in-between, probably leaning more towards Toris style of heavy melody, rock and piano. However, there are many electronic influenced songs as well and lyric content which would be more similar to Bjork.

Q: What other music has influenced StarSIx?

A: Defiantly Tool, early 90's grunge rock, floyd and fleetwoodmac, newer alternative artist like Evanescence, 30 seconds to mars, incubus, system of a down, Dredge, imogen heap, even kelly clarkson!!!

Q: What about the Trance influence?

A: Aydra was heavily into the rave scene for many years and followed some very famous cybertrance Djs who actually ended up helping her become a dj for a while and supported her like family. They were known for pioneering cybertrance into the US from Europe and the UK.

Q: What can the public expect out of StarSix in the media?

A: A well-developed new artist who speaks and delivers a message, who is unafraid of total exposure, willing to give everything to reach as many people as possible; radio singles, podcasts, internet sales of merch and albums, a worldwide tour (that is if fans demand it!) which strives for sustainability and conservation, but also shows up as an entire sensory experience on stage with cutting edge sound and lighting!

Q: So what IS the message of StarSix?

A: To prepare for the future by empowering yourself in the present and knowing your past. To become a light-warrior and embrace your journey, realize your true role in this life and approach the fight to save humanity and the planet in a tactful, responsible way, thats still Fun!

Q: Is this the only message of StarSix? there must be more...!

A: The show and music is done in a way that simply appeals to anyone, if they choose it, many of the themes are simple ones; love, acceptance, separation, desperation, evolution, the heros journey, but the "feeling" remains the same, which is one of empowerment, inspiration and courage for the future.

Q: Finally, theres a leak that StarSix may acutally be a movie in the making! can you give us any hints.

A: Aydras not talking about it too much as she is yet to formulate the entire treatment! But The StarSix Theory is a storyboard in the making, no doubt people over at Disney will catch on soon enough...keep your eyes peeled- media is changing all around us...and its very exciting considering the trouble were faced with right now, our world is accelerating towards a gigantic shift and the question now is to meet it with fear or love.
.........
Thank you for your time, I'm sure StarSix will be a hit!
